Metabolic & Inflammation Testing

Good health isn't just about not getting sick. It’s important to stay healthy, and if you need to make healthy changes, we’ve got resources proven to help you reach your goals. Trying to navigate your journey to health and happiness can sometimes be overwhelming, especially when there are new fads and tests coming at you left and right. At Nuwave Cryotherapy and Spa, metabolic testing and inflammation testing in Colorado Springs have never been easier or more stress-free.

We Offer Metabolic Testing in Colorado Springs

If you’ve considered investing in a metabolism test for weight loss or increased exercise performance, it’s important to understand how that test works and how the data is used to lose weight or improve your level of fitness. Metabolic testing is widely available at medical clinics, universities, and local health spas — but it can cost more than you’d think. On average, prices start at around $75. If you’re going to get one of these tests done, make sure it’s going to be worth it.

Metabolic numbers are normally only helpful if they are presented in the context of a comprehensive program. People have a hard time understanding their metabolism, so providing specific numbers can help balance out the confusion and provide meaning. Metabolic tests measure the rate at which your body burns calories and uses oxygen during rest or during different activities, the REE state. There are three tests that you may be offered when you look for metabolic testing:

  • Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) Test: this test provides an estimate of the number of calories you burn when your body is at complete rest.

  • Resting Energy Expenditure (REE) Test: this is the number of calories your body burns every day at rest.

  • Respiratory Rate and Metabolism: Compares to a typical person of similar sex, age, height, and weight, your metabolic rate. Many studies have been done to determine what is an average or normal metabolism. Your metabolic rate has been compared to what is normal for your age, height, weight, and sex. We often hear people blame their slow metabolism for their weight gain. But really most people do not have a slow metabolic rate. Your measured metabolic rate is shown compared to average. If you have a "Fast" metabolic rate your body burns MORE calories than average - which is good. If you have a "Slow" metabolic rate your body burns FEWER calories than average.

The test at Nuwave Cryotherapy Spa takes about 10 min to complete. NOTE: Be prepared before showing up. You need to avoid any large meals before the test or any stimulants, such as coffee, drugs (Marijuana), or cigarettes because they could influence the test and not give a true reading.  You will have a clip to pinch air from coming in or out of the nose and you will breathe into a tube, which will read into a machine. You will be in a relaxed position, breathing calmly for 10 min, and then a printout of your finding will be received and given to you so that you have a copy to be explained by a Doctor or a professional Nutritionalist. We are not Doctors or claim to be Doctors to give professional advice, when taking the test please realize this.

We also Offer Inflammation Testing in Colorado Springs

You can’t see it or feel it, but inflammation may slowly be damaging your body. Inflammation (swelling), which is part of the body’s natural healing system, helps fight injury and infection. But it doesn’t just happen in response to injury and illness. An inflammatory response can also occur when the immune system goes into action without an injury or infection to fight. Since there’s nothing to heal, the immune system cells that normally protect us begin to destroy healthy arteries, organs, and joints.

Inflammation can occur in the body in several forms. Acute inflammation occurs quickly following an injury, but as the threat is resolved, inflammation ends. Chronic inflammation involves an ongoing body defense response when harmful forces continue, accelerating the development of long-term health problems.

Chronic, low-grade inflammation can become a bridge to the development of high blood pressure, heart disease, type 2 diabetes and cancer. If you’re looking to do more than increase your physical fitness or lose weight, then doing a CRP test or an ESR test can put you on the right path.

Scientists measure a wide range of cell signaling proteins secreted by immune and other body cells as part of inflammation as they study how inflammation affects health and how it can be managed.

Although the steps that you choose to take towards your healthiest self will be unique, the foundations of good health are universal. Generally speaking, your health levels will often show on the inside and on the outside. Being healthy isn’t always just something that can make you look better aesthetically, but feel it too. Taking preventative measures like health screenings and tests, as well as being physically active does a lot to boost your health. Because so many health problems can show on the outside, by working on getting healthy on the inside, you’ll be able to notice a difference all around. Be consistent and make little changes to your life. Once you have formed the habit of keeping yourself healthy – you are onto a winner! Lower stress in your life and look forward to a healthier future, both mentally and physically.

At Nuwave Cryotherapy Spa we have a test that helps us to determine what your level of inflammation is and then after reviewing the test we can create a specific routine for body make-up and inflammation needs, to help decrease your inflammation level and pain.
